COSH and NASN Author Updated AAP Guidance for Administering Medications at School

The AAP provides recommendations on administration of medications at school for school physicians, community prescribers, school nurses, and other school health professionals in an updated document to be published in the June 2024 issue of Pediatrics and available electronically now. The statement underscores why robust medication administration systems are also an equity issue, as students with less access to appropriate medical care or treatment are more likely to miss school and experience poor health and academic outcomes. The AAP Council on School Health and the National Association of School Nurses co-authored this policy with lead authors Mary Beth Miotto, MD, MPH, FAAP, Brooke Balchan, DO, FAAP, and Laurie Combe, MN, RN, NCSN, FNASN.
