Promoting Lifelong Benefits for Youth Through Out-of-School Time

Date: May 29, 2024 | 12:00 pm

Location: Virtual webinar

Would you like to know more about the kinds of factors that have shown a positive impact on youth self-regulation, problem solving, interpersonal skills, decision making, behavior and more? While also decreasing risky, negative behaviors, such as substance mis-use? Out-of-school time (OST) is an ideal environment for building these protective factors, such as caring relationships, high expectations, and meaningful opportunities for contribution, which can lead to lifelong healthy development.

During this interactive webinar, we will share best practices for increasing protective factors and share successes from the field. Guest presenters include Heather Ashly Williams with the California AfterSchool Network and Ken Anthony with the Connecticut Network for Children & Youth.

As a result of participation, participants will:

  • Understand the role protective factors play in increasing health and reducing disparities.
  • Be able to identify strategies to build protective factors in OST.

Audience: OST program leaders, local and regional OST intermediaries, 21st CCLC grantees, school districts and school staff working in OST (or planning to!)
