Strengthened Support for Missouri Schools

DESE and the Missouri Roundtable for Trauma-Informed Care are pleased to announce the release of the revised Missouri Model for Trauma-Informed Schools. This updated guide supports schools in creating safe, supportive environments for students, staff, and families. It is designed both for schools beginning their trauma-informed journey and for those already engaged in this work.

Key updates include:

• Expanded information on how stress and trauma affect learning
• A strengthened focus on staff well-being and family-school-community partnerships
• Guidance for aligning trauma-informed practices with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and other school initiatives
• A new FAQ section, examples of how the guide can be used, and in-practice insights from Missouri schools
• An expanded resource list to support implementation
